Ardnamurchan is one of a collection of five West Highland peninsulas. It is home to Adelphi Distillery, one of the most prestigious and environmentally sustainable distilleries in Scotland.
Adelphi produces both peated and unpeated whisky, made with barley grown on the estate of one of the distillery owners.
From a refill ex-Bourbon barrel, this deep gold single grain whisky is at a remarkable age. Instantly the nose is filled with vanilla ice cream, ripe pears and coconut. As it opens up, sweet candy, sherbet, and caramel covered baked apples become present. The taste brings oiled lemon boiled sweets, fresh pears and sanded oak wood. It develops continuously adding new notes of clotted cream and salted caramel. Incredibly complex and superbly balanced, a truly special whisky.
