Alma das Donas winery is located in the heart of Ribera Sacra, where the Estate farm three hectares of steeply terraced vines. Here, above the river sil, the grapes can only be hand-harvested from the devilishly steep slopes.
The Mencia vines are over 50 years old and here they produce a wine with a pure expression of this native varietal. Elegance and freshness abound in a wine bursting with bright red fruit framed with fine, soft tannins. The finish is long, with a fine minerality adding to the complexity.
It will drink well with mushroom risotto, grilled lamb or steak and potatoes.
