From the Santa Barbara County Classics range from Au Bon Climat.
Winemaker and owner Jim Clendenen has been making Pinot Noir, with Santa Barbera grapes since 1982. Championing the variety in the area long before it was popularised by the hit film Sideways in 2004.
Au Bon Climat describes their Pinot Noir as a homage to the red wines of Burgundy. There is elegance and restraint in their production. But this is an intense wine, deeply coloured with aromas and flavors of strawberries and blackberries. A touch of sweet spice; clove and anise amongst the juicy fruit makes this a versatile and robust food wine.
