From a relatively new producer, founded in 2010, this is an exceptionally refined and aromatic Barolo. They farm in two Cru vineyards, Ceretta and Gianetto, entirely organically. This wine comes from the perimeter rows of the two sites, and since their neighbours are not all organic they choose not to label this wine as such.
In the winery everything is done to capture the most authentic character of Nebbiolo from Serralunga - the grapes are subject to a traditional long maceration of around 25 days and then the wines are aged for at least two years in large barrels from Austria's coveted Stockinger cooperage.
They have captured the divine perfume of Nebbiolo perfectly, with aromas of roasted plums, roses, potpourri and porcini mushroom that open up further with time in the glass or carafe. On the palate it is full-bodied but the tannins are not overly challenging for a Barolo, with a fresh and velvety feel to the finish and concentrated red berry, earth and spice flavours. A very gastronomic wine, ideal for game birds or a ribeye steak.
