Beare Green is the new project (2022 was the first vintage) of wine educators and owners of Streatham Wine House bar Jimmy Smith and Bethany Paterson and winemaker Sam Hill. Based in Beare Green, Surrey they source grapes from a number of trusted growers in the south of England for their range of wines. In the cellar they are strictly minimal intervention, fermenting without adding yeast, sugar, enzymes or other adjuncts. Their wines are very low in sulphites as well.

Sourced from a vineyard near to Pulborough in West Sussex, planted in 1999 into greensand soils and farmed organically (without certification), they have crafted a pair of Chardonnays to show the different character of two clones grown there.

Clone 95 is the broader of the pair, with weight and body that bely it's modest 10% alcohol. Yellow apple and white-fleshed nectarine notes, with a subtle creamy undertone and a deliciously long finish. Finely poised and persistent, an outstanding partner for fine seafood.
