Beare Green is the new project (2022 was the first vintage) of wine educators and owners of Streatham Wine House bar Jimmy Smith and Bethany Paterson and winemaker Sam Hill. Based in Beare Green, Surrey they source grapes from a number of trusted growers in the south of England for their range of wines. In the cellar they are strictly minimal intervention, fermenting without adding yeast, sugar, enzymes or other adjuncts. Their wines are very low in sulphites as well.
100% Bacchus - The fruit for this wine comes from a high-altitude vineyard in the picturesque Surrey Hills, just 15 minutes from the winery. The south-facing vineyard sits at 125 meters altitude on free-draining loam soil, ensuring optimal conditions for the grapes. Hand-harvested and whole-cluster pressed at BGW, the grapes undergo natural fermentation in stainless steel tanks at cool temperatures. There is no malolactic conversion or lees aging.
