Winemaker Peter Hall looks after 6 hectares in the South Downs national park, he also tends after 40 Lambs that graze the hills and vineyards. The wines are named after friends and family of Peter, he only makes small quantities of each cuvee.

On the name of this cuvee: "My elder brother Rémy and I were born during the war at our Irish granny’s house, Rangeworthy Court in Gloucestershire. Noella was our first nanny, a wonderful sweet natured and very French carer who I still remember well. She fell in love with George Glede the delightful farm worker (who still ploughed with horses!). They married, and after the war moved to France. Long after, George, who had a superb Gloucestershire accent, used to write to me saying he still couldn’t speak a word of French!"

2018 was a gloriously sunny vintage across England, and the bountiful crop of perfectly ripe fruit allowed Peter to produce his first ever Blanc de Noirs from Pinot Noir and Meunier.

The resulting wine displays a glorious array of ripe fruits, peach and yellow plum, fresh red berries and pink grapefruit. Fleshy and mouthfilling, but still dry and mineral in the typical Breaky Bottom style. Every new wine from this wonderful estate is a welcome arrival to our shelves, and Cuvee Noella is another thrilling single vintage expression of South Downs terroir.
