Pierrick Laroche produced his first vintage at the family estate in 2010, after decades of his father selling their fruit to the local co-operative. He has eliminated pesticide and herbicide use in the vineyards and is producing fine, classical Chablis that is receiving a lot of acclaim in the wine press.
The Vau de Vey Premier Cru sits on the cooler west side of the valley which divides the heart of Chablis. Among the steepest vineyards in Chablis, machine working is near impossible, and the dense limestone marl forces vine roots very deep to find water. This produces wines in a very direct and precise style, brimming with minerality and fresh citrus fruits. Laroche ages his Vau de Vey in used oak barrels for 15 months, not to impart any oaky taste, rather to help this tight and concentrated wine open up. A stunning and memorable Chablis Premier Cru with wonderful intensity of flavour, length and ageing potential
