Philippe Lancelot is a third generation winemaker in Champagne and took over his family estate in 2008. After tasting wines from the pioneering Champagne Fleury he converted all of the vineyards to biodynamic farming in 2012, using only organic products and promoting biodiversity and soil health.
The cuvee Les Hauts d'Epernay is an Extra Brut blend of the three major Champagne grapes all sourced from the hillsides above Epernay. The blend consists of 48% Chardonnay, 35% Pinot Noir and 17% Meunier. It shows pretty, aromatic fruit and floral character on the nose, white peach, lime zest and geranium mingling with biscuit notes from lees ageing. On the palate it is bright and harmonious, with delightful length and lightness. A true terroir Champagne, sure to age beautifully in bottle if you have the patience.
