The 18 hectares of Chateau Bellevue's vineyards encompass many of the finest climats of Morgon. Taking reigns of winemaking starting with the 2022 vintage, Elodie Rousselet has channelled her experience working in wineries across four continents to take the historic estate to the next level.
It is likely you have not encountered a Beaujolais Blanc before, Chardonnay makes up just 2% of the vineyards of this red-dominated region. At their best, the wines closely resemble a fine wine from the Macon, as is certainly the case with this wonderful example.
Hand-picked fruit from certified organic vineyards is meticulous sorted in the winery to select only clean, perfectly ripe bunches to be whole-bunch pressed. Aged in a mixture of old and new barrels to add richness and complexity.
The 2023 is slightly fresher and lighter in texture than the previous vintage, with apple and pear fruit, savoury and minerally notes and a touch of creaminess. An excellent Chardonnay that would rival many Pouilly-Fuisses, and pairs excellently with a fish pie.
