Founded by three friends who made the switch from wine-sellers to winemakers, Chateau Laulan is an estate in the Francs - Cotes de Bordeaux region, 10km east of Saint Emilion. The vines have been farmed sustainably, certified by HVE in France, from the beginning and they are in the midst of achieving organic certification as well.
The Chateau Laulan Blanc comes from fruit purchased from growers in the Entre-Deux-Mers region (Francs isn't so well suited to white varieties). A traditional white Bordeaux blend of 60% Sauvignon Blanc, 20% Semillon and 20% Muscadelle, fermented in stainless steel and aged on fine lees for 2 months.
A fresh and aromatic white, with lime, grapefruit and pineapple notes on the nose, as well as a hint of smoky minerality. On the palate it is medium-bodied with great persistence and a hint of honey alongside crisp citrus fruits. Great paired with fish and salads but equally delicious simply quaffed on its own.
