Olivier & Lafont, a petite negociant endeavour situated in the Rhône Valley, emerged in 2011 under the collaborative vision of two highly regarded consultant winemakers, Baptiste Olivier and Gerald Lafont. More than just business partners, they share a deep and abiding friendship rooted in their family histories of winemaking. Born into wine-producing families, Baptiste and Gerald naturally kindled a passion for the world of wine from an early age. Both acquired their National Diplomas in Oenology, followed by extensive experiences as consultant winemakers across France and even beyond its borders. Over the course of a decade, they honed their skills, working independently for renowned estates in Châteauneuf-du-Pape and various Rhône regions, forging invaluable connections, and establishing partnerships with prestigious clients. This network provided them access to some of the most exceptional fruit in the region.
Their small-batch cuvée, which yields a mere 3,000 bottles, is crafted from a selection of Clairette grapes sourced from diverse plots within the Châteauneuf-du-Pape appellation. The winemaking process involves direct pressing without maceration, and the various grape varieties are vinified together in 600-liter French oak casks. Subsequently, the wine matures on its lees for an additional 12 months post-fermentation, ensuring a refined and complex final product.
