Botanica Wines was founded in 2009 by owner and self-taught winemaker Ginny Povall, an intrepid American who fell in love with the beautiful Cape winelands, purchased Protea Heights farm in Stellenbosch’s Devon Valley and relocated to the southern tip of Africa in 2008.
The vines for this Chenin Blanc are grown on Citrusdal Fermentation, from a vineyard planted in 1960. After fermentation, the wine was left on the fine lees in a mixture of stainless steel tanks and oak barrels for 9 months. the wine is full of pear, citrus and stone fruit flavors, mouth-watering acidity and a mineral core.
This is probably the best value for money wine from the legendary, wild west coast.
This ageworty Chenin expresses aromas of pink grapefruit and blood orange on the nose, and is intense and stoney on the palate with Loire-like acidity, bright citrus fruit and floral notes on the finish.
It is textured and the freshness of acidity completes the full picture. It's excellent!
