Alex Favier acquires his IGP grape supply from family-owned vineyards in the Vaucluse region. Specifically, the grapes originate from two distinct "lieu-dits" located in Travaillan, to the west of Gigondas. La Marteillère boasts clay-rich soil ideal for cultivating Grenache vines, while L’Hers, with its limestone terrain, is the perfect environment for Carignan. These vineyards boast 30-year-old vines, meticulously hand-harvested and de-stemmed.
The process continues with a brief maceration of the Grenache in concrete, followed by aging in five-year-old Burgundy barrels for the Carignan, which serves to refine and soften the tannins. The resulting wine delivers a delightful combination of fresh, ripe red berries with subtle forest floor undertones. It tantalises the palate with deliciously ripe red and black cherries, a hint of spice, and gently lively tannins. The overall experience is beautifully complemented by a refreshing acidity. Whether enjoyed on its own or paired with dishes like pasta, grilled lamb, or ratatouille, this wine is sure to be a crowd-pleaser.
