This lead him on a series of visits to the growers and distillers of Bas Armagnac, and eventually to begin bottling small lots of brandy of his own. Now watched over by his son, Marc Darroze, they source eau-de-vie of all ages from 30 different domaines across Armagnac, always with an eye for exceptional quality.
The Blanche d'Armagnac is a rare unaged Armagnac, a challenging style to make as without the softening ability of oak, the quality of spirit must be absolutely perfect to avoid harshness. Produced from exclusively the historic Folle Blanche grape, it has vibrant fruity aromas (grapefruit, peach, white grape) and hints of peppery spice and rocket. A delicious neat pour, or Marc Darroze recommends substituting it for the gin in a martini for a unique and fruity take on the classic cocktail.
