From their small, organically farmed, vineyard in the Bendigo subregion of Central Otago in New Zealand, the Kerruish family of Folding Hill craft wonderful wines with an old world sensibility. They have built their reputation on the excellent quality of their Pinot Noir, and in 2016 decided to plant a small Chardonnay vineyard alongside it - the results have been astounding with this 2022 vintage scoring 94 Points and 5 Stars from New Zealand's Wine Orbit magazine.
The intense sunshine that marks this region is felt in the delicious ripe fruit aromas of peach, green fig and golden apples, which are complemented on the nose by creamy marzipan and toasted wood notes. The palate is succulent and mouthfilling, but balanced perfectly by zippy acidity and a clean minerality on the finish. A sublime example of why many see Chardonnay as New Zealand's finest white variety!
