The historic Chateau de Laborde in Burgundy has been restored to its former glory over the last 20 years under the ownership of Herve Kerlann, producing classic, complex wines from vineyards across the region.

The Gevrey-Chambertin Vieilles Vignes comes from a selection of parcels in the South and East of the village, aged 40 years or older. After meticulous selection at harvest the grapes are fully destemmed, given a long maceration with the skins and aged for 18 months in 30% new French oak barrels. We are fortunate to have a few of these magnums from 2015, now showing beautiful hints of maturity in their complex aroma.

Black berries and violet petals, liquorice and undergrowth all whirl together in the bouquet, displaying the pedigree of this Gevrey-Chambertin. The palate balances deep, intense fullness with satin-like tannin and a delightfully refreshing finish, awash with stony minerality and ripe berry fruit. A beautiful wine sure to wow any dinner party, especially alongside duck or venison.
