Julia Melo Kemper left her life as a lawyer in Lisbon in 2003 to follow her dream and her family's passion, moving to the Quinta do Cruzeiro, tucked between mountains in the Dao region. In her desire to express the qualities of this unique site, with its decomposed granite soil and balanced continental climate, the estate is farmed under organic and biodynamic philosophy. All of her wines are released with extended bottle age to ensure that customers are able to experience them at optimal maturity, a rare treat in the world of wine!
Her flagship white wine is a blend of Malvasia Fina and Encruzado, fermented in stainless steel before ageing in French oak barrels.
Lovely in balance between complexity and freshness, with toast and cedary components to the nose alongside delicious lime and apple fruit. Powerful and very dry on the palate, with hints of wild herbs alongside juicy citrus fruit. The persistence of the finish leaves a lasting impression of a very fine white wine indeed.
