Bodega Montes in Chile was founded by Aurelio Montes, when he realised the potential of the Mendoza wine growing region in 2000, describing it as ‘a superb land filled with generous wines and hardworking people’. Kaiken Wines was born in 2001 and today boasts superb vineyards in the sought-after regions of Vistalba, Agrelo and Vista Flores.
This wine celebrates the longstanding collaboration between renowned Argentinian chef Francis Mallmann and Kaiken Estate. Inspired by Mallmann's bold and unique approach to open-fire cooking, showcased in Netflix’s *Chef’s Table*, the wine is aptly named "Disobedience." The grapes are sourced from Kaiken’s vineyards in Altamira, Uco Valley, and Vistalba, Luján de Cuyo. At 1,200 meters, Vistalba’s chalky, sandy soils lend an elegant, fruit-forward character, while the deep alluvial loam in Luján de Cuyo encourages the vines to root deeply, enhancing fruit concentration and tannin structure.
With a blend of 60% Malbec, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 10% Merlot, this wine showcases vibrant red fruit layered with notes of graphite and sweet spice. It is full-bodied, with fine-grained tannins and a rich, lingering finish.
