A fourth generation winemaker, George Kissas moved away from the family business of large volume production for other vineyards to plant 16ha of vines in the mountainous Corinth region of the Peloponnese. He is joined in the cellar by his son Dimitrio, a winemaker with experience from California to Australia.
The Malagousia grape was revitalised around 40 years ago after being on the verge of extinction and the world of wine is all the better for having this delicious variety around! Mavrioros comes from a single vineyard planted at 800m altitude in loamy soil, gently pressed as whole clusters and fermented in stainless steel.
An expressive aroma of white peach and lime, with subtle floral blossom tones. The palate has a lovely balance of rounded waxy texture with a mineral freshness resulting from the unique high altitude terroir of its origin.
