The grapes that made this wine were grown in a steep terraced vineyard on the east-facing hillside of Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. The vineyard which sits at 2100 feet above the valley floor, grows thick-skinned grapes capable of creating a wine with intensity and elegance.
Aged 18 months in 30% new French Oak, balanced acidity and grainy tannins combine to create a notable structure and lingering finish. The nose is bursting with black fruit, earth and mountain herbs, followed by notes of blackberry, cassis, cherries and just a touch of black pepper.
