Founded in 1766, Chateau Guiraud farm 128 hectares of prime vineyard in the heart of Sauternes. A Premier Grand Cru Classe in the 1855 classification of Bordeaux, they are respected for the consistent excellence of their wines and the fresh balanced style they achieve. In 2011 they became the first Premier Grand Cru Classe in Bordeaux to receive organic certification, part of their ongoing effort to champion biodiversity and reduce their environmental impact.
The Petit Guiraud serves as an outstanding entry point to the wines of Sauternes and in the brilliant 2020 vintage shows the delectable fruit concentration and balance typical of this great estate.
65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc, hand harvested at peak ripeness effected by noble rot. Aged in oak barrels for 12 months before bottling.
Fresh fruity sweetness on the nose, apricot jam and lemon curd. The sweetness on the palate is matched perfectly by a clean citrussy acidity, preventing it from feeling overly fat or unctuous. Layers of honeyed fruit linger on the finish. Drink with cheeses or light, fruit-based desserts - or even try with rich shellfish like crab for a gourmet pairing!
