The origins of Domaine René Cacheux can be traced back to the late 19th century when Francois Blee, a vigneron from Vosne, cultivated a few parcels of land and sold his wines to Negociants. His son, Charles Blee, succeeded him and expanded the Domaine's holdings. In 1966, upon Charles' retirement, his two daughters divided the estate. One of them married a man named René Cacheux, giving rise to Domaine Cacheux-Blee. In a true Burgundian twist, René's brother married his wife's sister, leading to the establishment of Domaines Jacques Cacheux during that time.
In 2004, the reins of the Domaine were handed over to René Cacheux's son, Gerald, who decided to honour his father's legacy by renaming it Domaine René Cacheux et Fils. Under Gerald's stewardship, the Domaine underwent significant changes, shifting focus from selling to Negociants to producing and bottling more wines under their own label. This shift also brought marked improvements in the quality of their wines.
Today, the Domaine employs a 100% destemming process, and the fermentation takes place at lower temperatures. These changes have resulted in wines that exhibit purity, vibrancy, and an unmistakable sense of class.
