This juicy, organic red comes from Sicily, and is made from the Nero D'Avola grape. Sicily is blessed with plenty of warming sun, ripening the grapes is rarely a problem. Sometimes Nero D'Avola can wander into a soupy, over alcoholic wine, but this one uses fruit from higher altitude vineyards, which helps preserve acidity and freshness.
The wine is made by Cantina Europa, established in the early 1960s, it operates as a successful cooperative. They have been pioneers in organic farming in the area for many years. They specialise in making different wines from the Nero D'Avola grape variety. This is a crowd pleaser which can be served lightly chilled.
