Skinner Vineyards boasts a rich legacy spanning over a century and a half, yet its modern chapter began in 2006. Kevin and Kathy Skinner, a dynamic duo with a passion for the outdoors unearthed a hidden gem in an old, weathered road atlas—a place called Skinners, California. It was revealed that a Scottish prospector named James Skinner had struck gold during the legendary Gold Rush era, subsequently purchasing land, cultivating vineyards, and establishing a pioneering winery and distillery on the very grounds they stood upon.

Eager to unravel the mystery of their connection to this historic site, Kevin reached out to his father, Mike, sharing photographs and posing the poignant question, "Are we related?" What followed was a serendipitous revelation: through diligent research and collaboration with the Pioneer Cemetery Commission, they unearthed a familial link tracing back to the illustrious James Skinner himself. The lineage unfolded with each generation, ultimately leading to Mike's own grandfather!

To celebrate their heritage, Skinner Vineyards crafts a distinguished red blend of Southern Rhone and California heritage varieties including Mission and Zinfandel that pays homage to the land's legacy. With aromas reminiscent of luscious red fruits such as dark cherry, strawberry preserves, and dried cranberry, complemented by subtle undertones of wild sage, fennel seed, and earthy nuances. On the palate, a vibrant vein of minerality intertwines with supple tannins, culminating in a crescendo of lingering acidity on the finish.
