Banele Vakele has had an extraordinary journey from growing up in a township, to becoming an assistant wine maker with award winning Duncan Savage, to now making his own wines called Tembela. Tembela in Xhosa means faith, hope and belief, which seems very apt.
Aged for 10 months in oak, this Syrah has more of a European style than new world. It has elegant, soft, mixed berry fruit, with herb and spice notes and soft, fine tannins. It is very approachable and supple.
