The Cave de Turckheim is one of France's finest co-operative wineries, bringing together likeminded vine-growers to produce delicious food-friendly wines under winemaker Michel Lihrmann. Lihrmann's style is for drier wines, with precision and freshness. He has also encouraged more of the growers in the co-op to farm sustainably with the entire group now certified by HVE and more than 70 hectares of vineyards certified organic.
Edelzwicker (literally translating to noble blend) is the traditional Alsatian table wine, formed of blending the different white grapes of the region. For this wine Lihrmann selects portions of Riesling for power and minerality, Pinot Blanc for floral notes and softness and Sylvaner for crisp acidity.
The resulting wine has a gentle aroma of wildflowers and green apples, a light body and a crisp, dry finish. Charming flavours of honeysuckle, pear and lemon linger nicely on the palate. A good partner for goat's or sheep's cheeses, seafood or salads.
