Château Puybarbe is located in the heart of the Côtes de Bourg appellation, on the right bank of the Gironde just across the water from Margaux.
In 2014 the 35 hectare estate was taken on by Finnish couple Riku et Anna Väänänen. They retained the winemaker and the majority of the existing estate team, maintaining the high standards and reputation of this prime location. They are working to biodynamic and organic farming practices and hope to be certified in the near future.
The 2020 vintage of Le Roc is a blend of 77% Merlot with 23% Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine is made in a very bold and fruity style, with cassis and black cherry notes playing off vanilla and spice from the French oak aging. It is rounded and mouthfilling with soft tannins and a creamy finish, a Bordeaux for immediate pleasure.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome.
