The inception of Domaine Horgelus dates back to 1978 when Joseph Le Menn, hailing from Brittany, was lured by the allure of the South West's charm, culinary delights, and its distinctive way of life. Spanning 90 hectares, this estate is presently under the stewardship of his son, Yoan Le Menn. Yoan, representing the newer generation of oenologists, adeptly marries contemporary techniques with age-old wisdom. The renowned practice of harvesting at 3 am is one of Domaine Horgelus's trademarks, harnessing cooler climates to enhance the depth of flavours.
The harmonious blend of Merlot, Cabernet-Sauvignon, and Tannat, cultivated on Horgelus's 'Gala' plot, yields an elegant and spicy wine, characterised by profound notes of blackberry and blackcurrant. Its velvety tannins make it an ideal companion for grilled dishes and cheeses.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
