Restless River has quickly reached cult status among many South African wine lovers, although they haven't been around that long the wines they have created are of the highest quality. The vines they look after are some of the oldest in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. This coastal region far away from the bulk producers based around Cape Town is highly regarded as one of the best climates to produces wines from.
A tale of two vineyards. This exceptional wine brings together two sites - 'Main Road' & 'Dignity' - both planted in the late 1990's, making these some of the oldest Cabernet Sauvignon vines in the Upper Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. Packed with beautiful aromas of blackcurrant, red currant, graphite, a hint of tar, minerality, complex notes of wood and fruit, some tobacco leaf and cedar on the palate.

Whilst packing up to move internationally a friend died and I needed to organise an emergency case of something luscious to support the wake. Not only did their wonderful team organise and deliver within an incredibly tight deadline they drafted a message for me too which I approved. Wonderful!!

Henry and Team managed to locate some difficult to find American wine which they kindly offered and I gratefully accepted. They truly differentiate by being able to surprise by sourcing stock very much outside the run of the mill.

This was my second visit to Butlers Wine Cellar and on both occasions the service has been wonderful. The young lady assisted me and my wife on a number of purchases of wine and sherry and seemed very knowledgeable and made us feel welcome. Having tasted them she was spot on with her comments on each bottle. I would highly recommend anyone to use this shop.
