In Situ Signature Chardonnay Viognier 2021

Viña San Esteban is a family-owned winery located in the La Florida and Paidahuen vineyards, in the heart of the Aconcagua Valley in central Chile. The region’s privileged soils and microclimate, combined with modern viticultural techniques, produce wines of outstanding quality that are recognized internationally.

In Situ is a true ‘terroir project,’ with vineyards positioned at the eastern end of the Aconcagua Valley. Warm daytime temperatures ensure optimal ripening, while the cooling influence of the Andes at night helps preserve the acidity needed for balance and complexity.  This region has been a meeting point for Aconcagua Valley inhabitants for centuries, with ancient rock drawings still visible among the native flora and cultivated vines. These mysterious petroglyphs, resembling a spider’s web, have inspired the distinctive design of In Situ’s packaging.

Grown at 1500m in the foothills of the Andes, this handpicked fruit forms part of the Signature range—an exciting collection of blends from a land traditionally known for mono-varietal wines.

Fermented in French oak, this unique blend combines the fresh pear and mineral notes of Chardonnay with the dense body and floral aromas of Viognier. The wine is crafted from handpicked Chardonnay (60%) and Viognier (40%), sourced from the sandy, well-draining soils along the riverbanks of the Aconcagua. The cool night breezes descending from the Andes create an exceptional temperature variation, enhancing the mineral character and vibrant fruit expression of the blend.

After careful hand-harvesting, the wine is fermented in French oak barrels and aged over its fine lees for six months. To maintain its bright acidity and distinctive minerality, it does not undergo malolactic fermentation.
