Julia Melo Kemper left her life as a lawyer in Lisbon in 2003 to follow her dream and her family's passion, moving to the Quinta do Cruzeiro, tucked between mountains in the Dao region. In her desire to express the qualities of this unique site, with its decomposed granite soil and balanced continental climate, the estate is farmed under organic and biodynamic philosophy. All of her wines are released with extended bottle age to ensure that customers are able to experience them at optimal maturity, a rare treat in the world of wine!

Her Aragonez (the same variety as Tempranillo in Spain), is a beautiful and deep red, benefitting from traditional maceration in granite lagares and a long ageing in tank before bottling.

Deep aroma of forest fruits, blackberry and roasted plum, hints of chocolate and savoury spice. Supple, nicely aged tannin frames the moreish black fruits alongside liquorice and mineral notes on the long and gourmand palate. A rich and velvety red that never strays into jamminess or overt heaviness, perfectly weighted. making it a dream match for slow-cooked meats like oxtail or mutton stew.
