Passel Estate Margaret River Chardonnay 2018

Passel Estate in the picturesque Margaret River region of Western Australia combines production of outstanding wines with a passion for conservation. Alongside 6.7ha of sustainably farmed vineyards, the estate includes 10ha of native bushland, reserved for conservation to protect the rare native species living there. A family (or Passel) of endangered Western Ringtail Possums were relocated to this sanctuary after the 2011 Margaret River bushfires, inspiring the estate's new name.

Margaret River has established a reputation as Australia's finest region for Chardonnay, and this is a very fine example indeed. Harvested at night and gently pressed while still cool directly to barrel for fermentation, with 35% new oak. For the optimal balance of richness and freshness, one-third of the wine is allowed to undergo malolactic fermentation.

This is an Australian Chardonnay that will appeal to lovers of fine white Burgundy, with its elegant balance between fresh fruits (tangerine, nectarine, lemon) with more savoury aromas of cashew and brioche. Fine, lightly creamy and very long on the palate, it will partner fine fish or creamy chicken dishes superbly.
