Amazing wine at the price - this has been tested on several of my friends and they have all estimated it to have cost at least £25 (it's £11.99!).
It's a full-bodied but not overpowering wine, deep red in colour and mouthwatering on the nose. Smooth but fresh with soft tannins, succulent cherry and raisin notes, and a long satisfying finish.
The grapes are dried prior to fermentation using the appassimento method that characterises Amarone wines, though this is a much more easy-drinking cousin that can be enjoyed by the bottle rather than the single glass.
Wonderful with lasagne or cannelloni, and also holds up well to grilled or roast meats. It's my new best friend.
