Our adventure begins with the Domaine Christian Bellang Chardonnay Cuvee des Gouttes 2021, a creation of Domaine Christian Bellang, a family-owned winery nestled in the heart of the Languedoc-Roussillon region in southern France. With generations of winemaking expertise passed down through the Bellang family, culminating in a father and son joint enterprise where each bottle reflects a commitment to quality and tradition. The Chardonnay grapes for this cuvée are meticulously tended in the estate's vineyards, resulting in a wine that embodies the essence of the Mediterranean sun and soil and boasts notes of fresh citrus, apple, and pear. Gentle oak influences are employed to enhance richness and depth, ensuring a harmonious expression of terroir and tradition.

Avignonesi Da Di Toscana Sangiovese 2021

Next on our journey is the Avignonesi Da Di Toscana Sangiovese 2021, crafted by Avignonesi, a renowned winery located in the picturesque hills of Montepulciano in Tuscany, Italy. With a history dating back to the 16th century, Avignonesi is dedicated to producing wines that express the unique terroir of their vineyards while embracing sustainable and biodynamic practices. The Sangiovese grapes for this wine are handpicked from their organic-certified vineyards, ensuring that each bottle reflects the purity and authenticity of the Tuscan countryside. Da Di is a Chinese word for earth soil i.e. clay. The wine is stored in 11 different amphora, and is blended together after two months, then aged for a further 3 months. It is organic and fermented with indigenous yeasts. It has a lovely purity, with fresh red fruit flavours, it is medium bodied with a juicy finish. This is food friendly and you could lightly chill it.

Inspired by his passion for wine and the rugged beauty of the Pacific Northwest, MacLachlan collaborates with acclaimed winemaker Eric Dunham to produce small-batch wines of exceptional quality and character. The Bear Cub blend, featuring Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Syrah, showcases the region's diverse terroir and the artistry of its winemakers. Bursting with black fruit and an appealing hint of cedar. Juicy summer berries, black currant, ripe plum and streaks of shaved cocoa are richly expressive on the palate. Smooth and easy to drink with a finish that lasts, this Cub has enough structure to prove it’s no baby!

As we continue our odyssey, we encounter the 'Duckman' Joao Pato Baga Duck NV, crafted by Joao Pato, a pioneering winemaker known as the "Duckman" for his innovative approach to viticulture and winemaking. This particular bottle was vreated by his daughter Maria as an ode to her iconic winemaking father. Located in Portugal's Bairrada region, the Joao Pato winery has history producing exceptional wines since the 18th century, with a focus on indigenous grape varieties such as Baga. The Baga Duck NV is a testament to Pato's commitment to tradition and experimentation, highlighting the unique flavours of Baga grapes. A bold expression, a wild blend of various vintages artfully combined to achieve the perfect equilibrium of fruit, acidity, tannins, suppleness, and vigour. It is a delightful and opulent red wine from Bairrada, exhibiting exceptional balance, complexity, and enduring character.
