World Earth Day 2022

World Earth Day 2022

World Earth Day is an annual event on April 22 to demonstrate support for environmental protection. I thought this is a good time to highlight some of the sustainable practices which we implement during our day to day work.

The official theme for 2022 is Invest In Our Planet. This is exactly what we are trying to do.

From organic and biodynamic, to eco friendly and socially responsible, we love working with producers who care about the wider impact of their wines. In wine production, a good rule of thumb is that the more you care, the better the wines you make.

What this means is that our decision to actively choose more sustainable wines is guided by quality as much as ethics. We believe in the drive to protect soils and biodiversity, to minimise water, energy and chemical use in the winery, to cut waste, and to ensure wine industries worldwide benefit their local communities. But the other big reason we love sustainable wine producers is because their dedication to their craft is something we know leads to incredible wines.

Their commitment also inspires us to do our bit, from reusing cardboard boxes for our local deliveries to recycling everything in sight.

This year we have joined Ecologi who work with the reforestation projects across the world in association with the Eden project.

For every online order we receive (for local or national delivery) we will plant a tree. So far we have planted 491 trees.

We also donate to the UK’s leading natural wine cork recycling program.

You donate, and they resell. For every cork collected, they donate a % of the sales to their nominated charities. They also supply free corks to various charities and schools for use in craft projects.

Together we can all make a difference, while enjoying a glass of decent wine!
